How to Measure Flyback with a Multimeter and Check Flyback Damage - Hearing the name Flyback TV may no longer be foreign to television technician fans because it is one of the important components that every television has. But maybe for beginners it is not an easy thing to be able to determine the flyback of the TV itself and take measurements and analyze errors in these components.
The way to be able to check the damage that occurs on the TV flyback or what is often referred to as FBT, among others, is to see its physical form which is marked by the presence of puffiness on the surface of the television body, cracks or bursts with the smell of burning objects from within. Second is to measure the resistance between the flyback legs, first remove the FBT which is located on the mainboard, take measurements using a multitester which is a tool to use in this case.
Digital multitester or needle is a tool that can be used to measure TV flyback. If the tester display shows the number 1 or the needle does not experience movement at all then the FBT is fine, while if the tester display shows the number 000 or the needle deviates slightly it means that the flyback is short or damaged.
For the next test, check whether the flyback is good or not is a test of the reaction in a series. The television is turned on for a while then hold onto the side of the TR Horizontal heatsink, if it is so hot outside of normal, it can be ascertained if your flyback is in a damaged state.
There are several features that explain if your television flyback is damaged. Among them include:
1. Short flyback winding, this can be informed at the top and bottom of the FBT, which is a transformer that has a coil. If the winding is short, there can be problems on the inside of the flyback, such as a protective power supply and a continuous screaming sound, the horizontal transistor overheats, the horizontal transistor is broken continuously.
2. The flyback loop is broken, this is rarely the case but is a characteristic of a damaged flyback.
3. There is a high voltage leak, the flyback on the anode which is made of rubber will degrade for a long time so that it will stick firmly to the tube which causes the high voltage electric flame to jump towards the edge of the tube and cause grounding.
The thing you need to do to solve a problem like this is to replace the flyback transformer with a new one to prevent further damage so that it is not dangerous to your television. Replace with a flyback transformer that has the same type as on your television.
