The output transformers are not large so they are inexpensive and inexpensive. This feature alone, saves around 30-40 euros.
Also this design has a sufficiently high gain to allow direct connection (via headphone jack) with MP3 players. The previous tube amp design, with the ECC802S driver did not have enough gain for this.

The end result is a great "do it yourself" project for those of you who need 5-7 watts of high quality sound. In fact the tube amplifier produces a fairly clean sound from 25Hz to 20kHz.
The result is really amazing, the audio quality is really great!
If the power limits are not exceeded this tube amplifier will provide very high sound quality, and will be easy to listen to, distinguishing this audio quality with great precision and clarity.

Tube amplifier power supply

The tube amplifier uses a single power source with four filter sections. The first three sections are shared with both channels. The final part of the filter is divided into two parts so that each SRPP stage has its own filter. This is so that there are no interactions, even minimal, between the two channels. The four sections start with solid state fast recovery rectifiers and obviously with a capacitive input. Three of the four sections use polypropylene capacitors. The end result of this decoupling is an extremely quiet amplifier. I hate hums and noises and therefore I take great care to minimize them. I want to hear the music, don't rustle and the tubes help me with that.
Tube amplifier driver

The pilot stage is quite simple, it is used in both sections, a new Sovtek production, a 5751 tube. For those unfamiliar with this tube, it is similar to a 12AX7. The 5751 is pin compatible with the 12AX7, but it is not directly interchangeable, in fact some parameters are different (the 5,751 gains about 30% less than the 12AX7). I've tried other 5751 tube brands as well but the Sovtek brand has less distortion than the others.

Tube amplifier - Final stage

The output stage is a Push Pull self-inverting (SIPP). With the advent of solid state electronics a simple application of a common LM317 (voltage regulator) accurately converts a constant current source (CCS). Using a CCS in the cathode circuit the tubes are forced to operate in class-A.

Attention: This project uses high voltages. Contact with high voltages can cause injury or even death.
