Every electronics project that is being made or worked on is certainly inseparable from the adapter circuit (power supply). The power supply circuit presented here can help you meet various needs of electronic projects very well.

The working voltage of this adapter circuit is DC 1.25V to 30V which is well regulated. Which if needed instead of a 1.5V battery, this adapter series is very reliable. Likewise, if used for low power amplifiers, this power supply can supply a voltage range of 24V very well.

This adapter circuit is built using the LM317 IC as the main component, this IC is very easy to obtain and affordable. But it can produce good quality. The 1A power supply adapter circuit is as follows:

From the circuit scheme above, it can be seen that the LM317 IC only has 3 pins, namely IN, OUT and ADJ. ADJ pin (adjust) will determine the desired output voltage. In the above circuit configuration, the LM317 can produce a maximum voltage of around 30VDC.

There are several reasons why this LM317 IC is so popular:

Small output voltage tolerance, only 1%.
Load tolerance 0.3%
There is protection against temperature if it is too high due to overload.
Protection against short circuit (short circuit).
Can eliminate up to 80dB of ripple voltages
The maximum input voltage is quite large, which is up to 40VDC.

For the calculation formula regarding this LM317 IC will be discussed in another post or you can immediately see the LM317 datasheet for more details. In the operation of this adapter circuit, IC LM317 must be given an aluminum cooler because when working for a long time with maximum current, this IC will be very hot. It is recommended to use an aluminum cooler that is wide enough is better.

The construction of this power supply adapter circuit is simple, if needed, you can also add a digital voltmeter and ammeter in the circuit so that it will look more attractive and increase efficiency because to set the desired voltage there is no need to connect a voltmeter from a multimeter.
